The retreat will include meditation instruction, Dharma talks, and group chanting. This retreat provides us with a wonderful opportunity to practice in this ancient tradition that has transmitted this priceless teaching of liberation through two and a half millennia.

Ajahn Viradhammo
Ajahn Viradhammo is the founder and abbot of Tisarana Buddhist Monastery in Perth, Ontario. He took bhikkhu (monastic) ordination in Thailand in 1974 at Wat Pah Pong with Ajahn Chah. He was one of the first residents at Wat Pah Nanachat, the international monastery in northeast Thailand. In 1977, he was asked by Ajahn Chah to join Ajahn Sumedho at the Hampstead Vihara in London. Later, he was involved in the establishment of other monasteries in the UK and New Zealand. He returned to Canada in 2002, living in Ottawa where he cared for his mother for nine years. He is now resident full-time at Tisarana.

  • 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
    Online short sitting followed by a Dharma talk by Ajahn Viradhammo
  • 4:00 – 5:00
    Online sitting with Ajahn Viradhammo


There is no set registration fee for this retreat. However, please consider making a donation. Your Dana will help us to continue to offer Dharma teachings.

SIMT will offer donations made between made between September 14 and 21 to Tisarana Buddhist Monastery.
